Art and stills from various shorts, ads and clips by John Wilson and his Fine Arts Films. You’ll recognize the Grease bits maybe (those are layout and storyboard drawings). The others are from The Sonny and Cher Show, Exploring, and Shinbone Alley.
Design sketches (and a model sheet) for Hanna-Barbera’s Yogi Bear. The character debuted in 1958 in the Huckleberry Hound Show.
Jim Henson’s design sketches for Sesame Street regulars, Bert and Ernie. He had the shapes right on one of his first tries it seems.
The Disney film that got away: art from CHANTICLEER, by Marc Davis. Parts of it were later used for ROBIN HOOD (1973).
Grim Fandango (1998) concept art and model sheets. Great designs by Peter Tsacle and Peter Chan.
1993 concept art for a planned Betty Boop film, which would have featured her father, Benny Boop. Production went on for several months, but ultimately the project was cancelled.
What seems to be lacking from these images: New York (Betty Boop was an independent New Yorker), and the influence of the German Expressionism movement.
